Transform your lazy Sunday mornings with this easy and delicious Baked Cinnamon French Toast that fills the house with warm cinnamon and vanilla aromas.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 loaf of bread (preferably challah or brioche)
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • Butter (for greasing the baking dish)
  • Powdered sugar (for serving)
  • Maple syrup (for serving)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a baking dish with butter.
  2. Cut the bread into thick slices, about 1 inch thick.
  3. Arrange the slices neatly in the prepared dish.
  4. Whisk together the eggs, milk, heavy cream, brown sugar, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and salt in a bowl.
  5. Pour the egg mixture evenly over the bread, pressing down gently to soak the slices.
  6. Cover the dish with foil and refrigerate it for at least 1 hour or overnight.
  7. Remove the foil and pop it in the oven to bake for 30-35 minutes until golden brown.
  8. Serve warm, dusted with powdered sugar and drizzled with maple syrup.

Notes

For best results, let the bread soak overnight. Consider adding chopped nuts or sliced fruits for extra flavor.
