Description
A delightful dessert that combines the creamy richness of cheesecake with the sweet and tart flavor of apples, all wrapped in flaky puff pastry.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 sheets puff pastry (thawed)
- 1 large apple (peeled and diced)
- 0.5 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon lemon juice
- 4 oz cream cheese (softened)
- 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
- 0.5 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 egg (beaten)
- Powdered sugar (for dusting)
Instructions
- In a small saucepan over medium heat, combine diced apples, brown sugar, cinnamon, and lemon juice. Cook for 5–7 minutes until apples are softened but not mushy. Set aside to cool.
- In a bowl, beat softened cream cheese with granulated sugar and vanilla extract until smooth and creamy. Refrigerate until ready to assemble.
- Unfold the thawed puff pastry sheets on a lightly floured surface. Cut each sheet into 6 equal rectangles, giving you 12 pieces in total.
- Spoon about 1 tablespoon of cheesecake mixture onto 6 of the pastry rectangles. Top with a spoonful of apple filling. Brush the edges with beaten egg, then place another pastry rectangle on top. Use a fork to seal the edges.
- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Place assembled pies on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Brush tops with egg wash and bake for 18–20 minutes, or until puffed and deeply golden.
- Let pies cool slightly before dusting with powdered sugar. Serve warm for maximum gooeyness.
Notes
- For a twist, add walnuts or pecans to the apple filling.
- These pies are best served warm straight from the oven.
- Can be stored in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
