Description

A healthier twist on traditional burgers using cabbage as buns, these Oven-Baked Cabbage Burgers are delicious, easy to make, and customizable for every palate.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 head of cabbage
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs (or almond flour for low-carb)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Olive oil
  • Optional toppings: cheese, avocado, tomatoes

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Cut the cabbage into large slices or ‘buns’ about 1-inch thick.
  3. Mix together ground beef, chopped onion, garlic, egg, breadcrumbs, salt, and pepper in a bowl.
  4. Form the beef mixture into 4-6 patties.
  5. Heat olive oil in a skillet and brown the patties on both sides.
  6. Place the cabbage ‘buns’ on a baking sheet, top with beef patties, and add cheese if desired.
  7. Bake in the oven for 20-25 minutes or until the beef is cooked through and cabbage is tender.
  8. Serve with optional toppings.

Notes

Don’t skip the browning step for extra flavor, and feel free to experiment with spices in the meat mixture.
