Description

Delightful holiday macarons shaped like Santa, perfect for snacking and gifting during festive gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup almond flour
  • 1 3/4 cups powdered sugar
  • 3 large egg whites
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon cream of tartar
  • Red food coloring
  • Buttercream frosting (for filling)
  • Chocolate chips (for eyes)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 300°F (150°C) and line your baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Sift together the almond flour and powdered sugar.
  3. Beat the egg whites in a clean, dry bowl until foamy. Add the cream of tartar and continue beating until soft peaks form.
  4. Gradually add granulated sugar, beating until stiff peaks form.
  5. Fold in the almond flour mixture and red food coloring until smooth.
  6. Transfer the batter to a piping bag and pipe small circles onto the prepared baking sheet.
  7. Let the macarons sit for 30 minutes to form a skin.
  8. Bake for 15-20 minutes, then cool on the baking sheet.
  9. Sandwich two macarons with buttercream frosting and use chocolate chips for eyes.

Notes

Room temperature egg whites whip better. Practice piping on parchment paper before starting.
