Description
A simple yet satisfying dish featuring spaghetti tossed in fragrant garlic and olive oil, perfect for quick meals or special occasions.
Ingredients
- Spaghetti
- Olive oil
- Garlic (sliced thin)
- Red pepper flakes (for a little kick)
- Fresh parsley (chopped)
- Salt (to taste)
- Parmesan cheese (optional)
Instructions
- Cook spaghetti according to package instructions, usually about 8-10 minutes in boiling water. Make sure to stir often so it doesn’t stick.
- While the pasta cooks, heat about a quarter cup of olive oil in a pan over medium heat. Don’t rush this step; you want it hot enough to sizzle but not so hot that the garlic burns.
- Add sliced garlic to the olive oil and sauté until golden brown, around 2-3 minutes. Keep stirring so it doesn’t burn.
- Stir in red pepper flakes—adjust to your spice tolerance, but a pinch goes a long way.
- Drain the spaghetti, but reserve a cup of that starchy pasta water.
- Combine the drained spaghetti with the garlic oil, tossing to coat. If it looks dry, add a splash of that reserved pasta water.
- Stir in chopped parsley and season with salt. Taste it because seasoning is everything.
- Serve with grated Parmesan cheese on top if you’re feeling fancy!
Notes
Don’t skip the reserved pasta water, it makes a difference! Use good quality olive oil, and be careful with garlic as it cooks quickly.
